COMMUNICATION. LANGUAGE AND LITERACY
The curriculum is planned to give children the opportunities to practice preliminary speaking, listening and writing skills before reading and writing can be taught more formally.
Communication skills are developed through variety of activities and role plays. Children get ample opportunities to listen to stories, rhymes and sounds through a well-stocked library and story books suited to their needs. They learn to recognize the letters, sounds, signs and words and their environment. Pre-writing skills are developed as they experiment with various tools such as pencils, pens, crayons, etc. to convey their thoughts or feelings.
Children learn to use mathematical vocabulary as they talk about shapes in their environment and sort, match, order, sequence, count and solve problems. Planned practical activities allow children to explore, enjoy, demonstrate and practice their learning and develop their understanding of early concepts of number, shape, pattern, time, measurement and space.
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDINGS OF THE WORLD
With the aim to stimulate curiosity for the world around them, the children are provided opportunities to question, explore and find out themselves, their environment and the people and places that have significance in their lives. Teachers extend children's experiences and their knowledge in Science by questioning, interacting, discussing and offering additional materials and resources.
ICT (INFORMATION COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY)
Children from early age are given opportunities to play with simple machines, computer programs and explore the uses of everyday technology.
DRAWING, PAINTING & CRAFT WORK
Children are given opportunities to explore with a range of colours, shapes, texture & techniques which offer sensory experiences & allow them to express their imaginations, thoughts, and feelings through their art work. Children are encouraged to evaluate and appreciate their own work and that of others.
Role plays, puppets, themes and stories are used to recreate and invent situations: Ample training and a wide platform is provided to nurture their talent in dramatics.
MUSIC & DANCE
Singing, playing instruments, movement and dance-all help the children to develop a sense of rhythm and give them another important means of expression. Children regularly participate in musical activities and aIso enjoy various dance forms.
The school has a variety of musical instruments for the students to choose from qualified instructor to train them to excel for competitions. Students are given opportunities to view a variety of performances, peer choreography, great dance artists and recordings. Hence creative & aesthetic development is nurtured by providing the children with opportunities to confidently explore & express their thoughts, ideas and feelings through art, design & technology, music, movement, imagination & role play activities.
