GISS has separate hostel modern buildings for boys and girls within the main campus and provide comfortable, convenient and fully secure accommodation with attached bathrooms within each dom. There are prep. Rooms for each class to pay individual attention to the academic needs of hostelers. Each child is provided a bed with mattress and a locked cupboard along with a separate chair desk for study in prep room. In addition to the well -balanced daily program for boarders that includes academics and extra-curricular, there are opportunities to take advantage of the school’s many facilities in and out of doors.

A full range of weekend activities is provided for hostellers which may include dramas, a visit to the theater, a game, a puppet show or some debating competition, a lecture on some interesting aspect, a picnic, an excursion to a historical site and much more. The hostel staff at GIS is a team professional with vast experience under the direct supervision of the principal, who really makes personal efforts to ensure boarding at GIS is like a real home.

Each floor of Boarding House is supervised by an experienced residential House Parents. Many other resident faculty members are also involved in the school ‘s full program of special activities, which include formal dining and presentations by visiting speakers from many walks of life. In addition, all students whether boarding or day belong to a small Tutor group led by a faculty Tutor who was responsibility for their personal welfare and academic progress. He is a personal mentor who counsels them.

School Boarding Life

The school prides of its quality of boarding provision both for boys & girls (Class I onwards) The Savita Garg hostel is under the direct supervision of the Principal. The two hostel supervisors of boys & one lady hostel supervisor for girls and an experienced academic hostel supervisor works under the school Heads & officials. They counsel the children individually and encourage them to maintain general discipline & tidiness within the hostel. The Academic hostel supervisor keeps individual progress records to monitor their academic progress. The well experienced matrons are readily available within the hostel to attend all the immediate needs of Boarders as well as to supervise the domestic arrangements such as laundry, bathing, repairing, hair dressing, bed maintaining etc. The hostel provides vegetarian diet cooked in hygienic kitchen. The menu which is changed regularly seeks to provide for tastes whilst maintain a correct nutritional balance. On week days study and coaching classes are held before & after school hours under the able guidance of subject wise experienced & devoted teachers. These classes though conducted in groups but they cater to the individual needs of the students. During the weekend, there are programmes of entertainment that include Films, Talent Contest, Quiz, Birthday Parties, Outings etc. Apart from the weekend programmes, the boarders enjoy the facilities of games & sports throughout the week under the supervision of trained games teachers. A qualified medical practitioner visits frequently for general health check-up.

HOSTEL RULES FOR THE PARENTS TO KNOW

Once a child is admitted as a boarder, he/she will not be permitted to be a day scholar under any circumstances during the running academic year. Leaving the hostel in a mid-session may be considered only on medical ground that too of a hospitalization.

Parents are suggested not to send the eatables to avoid disappointment as they will not be accepted.

Parents are requested not to provide money directly to the children. They should deposit imprest amount in the office for their child’s necessary & controlled expenditure. Clothes, under garments, bag & suitcase etc. should be marked with hostel number.

A full list of all articles sent with every child should be pasted & deposited with the hostel supervisor.

Parents are suggested to strictly follow directions & schedule mentioned in the year planner of the school.

Parents can meet the Principal on the days marked or on prior taken appointment.

Parents/guardians/visitors can meet the boarders on the designated days only. They will not at all be allowed to meet on other days

It is compulsory for all parents to sign the visitors register on arrival in the occasion of meeting their wards.

Parents are firmly directed to follow the directions given at the school prospectus regarding school uniform & other rules.

Students are strictly warned to follow rules of properly fitted graceful uniform and hair-style.

GENERAL FEE RULES

Hostel fees/dues are payable in two instalments through convenient mode of payment like cash, bank transfer, DD etc.
The fee book should be preserved carefully for the entire academic session & presented to the hostel office on demand.

RULES OF LATE FINE

If any instalment is deposited late, a late fine of 2000 per month will be charged.
2. In any quarter till the dues of that time are not cleared, student will not be allowed to take exams.
